Funeral costs can vary depending on the type of service you choose, where you live, and the level of personalisation involved. In the UK, the average cost of a funeral is around £4,141, but this can rise to £5,000 or more for a burial and is typically £3,800 for a cremation. Direct cremation (a simple, unattended option) is the most affordable, averaging £1,500–£1,600. These figures include essential services, but optional extras like flowers, memorials, and catering can increase the total cost significantly. Planning ahead or comparing funeral directors can help manage these expenses and provide peace of mind.
